Youth Screenplay Contest

Judging & Prizes:

  • Screenplays will be judged on a sliding scale of 1 to 5 with 5 being the best.
  • Screenplays Scoring:
    • 5 Points will be filmed and distributed with the screenwriter receiving 5% royalties.
    • 4 Points will be filmed and distributed with the screenwriter receiving 2.5% royalties.
    • 3 Points will be given a rewrite opportunity.
    • 2 Points will receive a Participation Laurel and a free digital copy of David D. Ford’s “Beginners Guide to Screenwriting”.
    • 1 Point will receive a participation Laurel.

Requirements:

  • Short Screenplays must be no less than 15 pages and no more than 59 pages.
  • Feature/Full length Screenplays must no less than 60 pages and no more than 120 pages
  • Documentary Screenplays must be no less than 15 pages and no maximum length

Rules:

  • Screenwriters must be under 21 years of age at the time of submission.
  • Screenwriters under the age of 18 must have parents written consent to be selected for the contest.
  • All content must be of family and/or Christian content.
  • Absolutely:
    • NO Profanity
    • NO Nudity (Implied when necessary is acceptable)
    • NO Visual Sex scenes (Implied when necessary is acceptable)
    • NO Unnecessary violence
  • Screenplays must be Written in Standard Screenplay Format and submitted as a PDF file.
    • Screenplay Software resources:
      • WriterDuet (Our recommendation Free with paid options)
      • Final Draft
      • Celtx (*Free with paid options)
      • Adobe Story
    • Screenplays must be registered with The U.S. Copyright Office or a writer’s guild before the film can be produced.

Entry Fees:

  • Entry fee for all youth screenplays are free but contributions any amount are accepted.
